What is a Credit Union?

A credit union is a cooperative financial institution owned and operated by its members. The Texas Farm Bureau Federal Credit Union (TFBFCU) was organized under federal law, by and for the employees of Texas Farm Bureau and Affiliated Companies and their families. It is a democratic organization with a Board of Directors and Credit Committee elected by the membership. Credit unions, like other financial institutions, are closely regulated. Deposits are insured up to $250,000 by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA), an agency of the U.S. Government. The Texas Farm Bureau Federal Credit Union (TFBFCU) is a member of the Texas Credit Union League and is governed by the National Credit Union Association.
Membership in the TFBFCU is separate and apart from membership with the Texas Farm Bureau. The TFBFCU is owned by more than 1,100 members just like you. Membership is exclusive to employees and their families.
